Take a Tour of A Child's World Preschool
Philosophy of the School
A Child's World is a child development center that is firmly committed to excellence in early childhood education. It is our goal that children will be happy while learning and growing. Some aspects of early child development will be encouraged by discovery through play, other aspects will be actively taught. Our teachers, with their love of children, will provide a wealth of learning opportunities to benefit all aspects of development. By careful attention to ongoing communication with parents, a partnership will develop to encourage your child to reach full potential.
A Child's World serves children from age 2 through 9. Programs include a toddler program, a preschool program, a kindergarten-age program to prepare children for first grade, and a school vacation program.
The preschool and child care programs are licensed by Washoe County Social Services and maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations. It is our goal to achieve the highest of professional standards throughout the school. The owners are Art and Sharon Willans. They are long time residents of Nevada and have two children of their own. Art has a Ph.D. in Developmental and Child Psychology from the University of Kansas. Sharon has a masters in Social Work from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Both have extensive experience in children's and human services programs. Art, who is a former director of the Washow County Program for Abused and Neglected Children, has also consulted extensively in preschool and elementary education for public and private schools around the country.
